Im just traveling back from a fantastic wedding weekend in the southern Swedish town of Åhus.It seems like everyone including the children can tell the story of Absolut, im sure it must be taught in day care. We discovered quite possibly the best ice-cream I’ve ever had in Sweden Otto Glas (I could not find a site for them nor much info except this feature in Sydsvenskan). I had the Meringue Swiss in a home-made waffle cone which was everything expected of ice-cream and more as you found the pieces of meringue in the banana ice-cream. We also had a great moment overlooking the sea the day before the wedding eating freshly smoked eel at a fisherman’s beach side house with beers. This is where I heard stories of Ålagille, a party were you basically have 7-10 various was of cooking eel complemented by copious shots of vodka. The eel could be smoked, fried, as a soup, boiled etc.. it can get messy, just oily eel and copious booze. Not sure what beer to drink with what food, well an online beer somelier is here to help. And to finish off this post with a sunny drink, Michelada, composed of light Mexican beer (Sol), fresh lime juice, Worcestershire and Cholula, topped with a lime juice and salt crusted rim. I actually had something similar once at the Fox’s once minus the worcestershire and lime & salt rim.
